Assessment Procedures

Determining whether your application conforms to §1194.21(a) of Section 508 is a relatively quick and simple process. Utilize the following steps to perform your test:

  • Open the application to be tested.
  • Navigate through the application using the keyboard only.
  • Use all aspects of the application without using a mouse.
  • Note any features that are inaccessible so that they may be addressed during remediation.
  • There may be tools to automate this procedure. Since all twelve provisions can not be measured in an automated way, manual test procedures must accompany any automated processes used to ensure complete testing is performed, and eliminate inaccurate results.
