Assessment Procedures
Determining whether your application conforms to §1194.21(d) of Section 508 is a relatively quick and simple process. Utilize the following steps to perform your test:
- Open the application.
- Navigate through the application using a screen reader or software accessibility testing tool.
- Check to see if the screen reader can distinguish and read all control options, or if any violations appear in the testing tool.
- Note any control options that can not be read by the screen reader, or any violations that appear in the testing tool, so that they can be addressed during remediation.
- Be sure to understand how the screen reader works, and what keys to use to control it.
- There may be tools to automate this procedure. Since all twelve provisions can not be measured in an automated way, manual test procedures must accompany any automated processes used to ensure complete testing is performed, and eliminate inaccurate results.
