Assessment Procedures

Determining whether your application conforms to §1194.21(e) of Section 508 is a relatively quick and simple process. Utilize the following steps to perform your test:

  • Open the application to be tested.
  • Navigate through the application.
  • Check to see if individual icons mean the same thing throughout the application.
  • Note icons whose meaning changes and address the problem during remediation.
  • Note: As of the writing of this course, there is only one automated assessment tool available on the market. Due to the fact that not all twelve provisions can be tested automatically, a manual check should be used in conjunction with the automated tools.
