Assessment Procedures

As mentioned earlier, determining whether your application interferes with user-selected contrast and color selections (as well as other display attributes) is a relatively quick and simple process. Utilize the following steps to perform your test:

  • Customize/set display attributes on the test computer.
  • Open the application to be tested.
  • Navigate through the application.
  • Target/utilize functions that will allow you to determine whether the test computer's personalized settings were maintained.
  • Note any changes in user-defined settings so that they may be addressed during remediation.
  • There may be tools to automate this procedure. Since all twelve provisions can not be measured in an automated way, manual test procedures must accompany any automated processes used to ensure complete testing is performed, and eliminate inaccurate results.

What actions can be taken to develop an application that conforms to this provision? What can be done if an existing application does not conform?
